Workshop Title: Introduction to the Mockingbird Methodology: Strategies for Empowering Learners using the Science of Motivation, Trauma-Informed Care, and Neuroscience
Workshop Description:
Discover the Mockingbird Methodology, a holistic and research-based approach designed to empower practitioners working with vulnerable learners. Grounded in the latest research on neurobiology, psychology, and social psychology, this methodology addresses the biopsychosocial aspects of learning and the profound impact of trauma. Participants will explore trauma-informed strategies for facilitation, coaching, and mentoring, all aimed at creating environments where learners can thrive academically and emotionally.
In this interactive, multi-sensory workshop, participants will learn how to balance high standards with high support, make learning visible, engage reluctant learners through active, multi-sensory techniques, and foster psychologically safe and socially non-threatening environments. Participants will learn how cognitive, social, and emotional factors shape motivation, and discover practical strategies to foster engagement, purpose, and growth in vulnerable learners.
